MacroHall Terms of Use

The short version

• MacroHall is for people 16 and older.
• MacroHall gives general nutrition information, not medical advice.
• Menus and nutrition come from dining hall websites and can be wrong. Check with the dining hall if it matters, especially for allergies.
• Coach is an AI and can make mistakes.
• MacroHall Pro is billed and renewed through Apple. Cancel anytime in your iPhone Settings.
• Be respectful when you rate food or report how busy a dining hall is.

Who can use MacroHall

You must be at least 16 years old to use MacroHall. By using it, you confirm that you are. MacroHall is built for students at the schools it supports, but anyone 16 or older may use it.

Your account

You can use MacroHall without an account. If you create one, you sign in with a code sent to your email. Use an email address you control, and keep access to it private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we keep and how we use it. You can read it in the app under Profile > Privacy Policy, or at https://macrohall.netlify.app/privacy.html.

MacroHall Pro

MacroHall Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks extra features, like Coach, unlimited Build My Plate and planning ahead. The plans are:

• Founding member: $9.39 for a year, for the first 100 students only
• Yearly: $20.19 per year
• Monthly: $4.37 per month

Prices are in Canadian dollars and may include or add taxes depending on where you live. The length of each plan and its price are shown before you buy.

Payment is taken by Apple through your Apple account when you confirm your purchase. Your subscription renews automatically for the same length at the then current price unless you turn off renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your account for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.

You can cancel anytime in your iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then MacroHall. Deleting the app or your MacroHall account does not cancel a subscription. When you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own policies, not by us. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

If we change a price, the new price applies from your next renewal, and Apple will tell you before it does where the law or their rules require it. We may change which features are included in Pro over time, and we will try to give you notice of any big change.

Not medical advice

MacroHall gives general information about food and nutrition to help you make your own choices. It is not medical, dietary or health advice, and it does not replace a doctor, registered dietitian or other qualified professional. Daily targets are estimates based on general formulas and may not suit you.

Talk to a qualified professional before making big changes to how you eat, especially if you are pregnant, have a health condition, or have ever struggled with eating. If food or eating ever feels hard, the Safety Center in the app lists people you can talk to. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Menus and nutrition information

Menus, ingredients, allergens and nutrition numbers come from each dining hall's own website and from public food databases. We don't make the food and we can't check every dish. Information can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and menus change without notice.

Never rely on MacroHall alone for allergies, intolerances or other medical needs. Always confirm with dining hall staff before eating something that could harm you.

MacroHall Coach

Coach is an AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude. Its replies are created automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete or not right for you. Use your own judgment, and check anything important with a qualified professional. Don't rely on Coach for medical, safety or emergency decisions.

We may limit how many messages you can send to keep the service affordable for everyone.

Ratings and "How busy is it" reports

When you rate a dish or report how busy a dining hall is, please be honest and fair. Other students only see totals, never who rated or reported anything. Please:

• Only rate food you've actually had, and only report how busy a hall is when you're there or know
• Rate each dish once from one account, and never use extra accounts or tricks to change the totals
• Remember that real people cook and serve the food

You keep ownership of your ratings and reports. You give us permission to use them, combined with others, to show totals in MacroHall. We may remove ratings or reports that break these rules.

Using MacroHall fairly

When you use MacroHall, you agree not to:

• Break any law, or use MacroHall to harm or harass anyone
• Try to get into other accounts, our servers or the services we work with
• Copy, scrape or resell MacroHall, its menus or its data, or use automated tools to pull information from it
• Interfere with how MacroHall works, or try to get around limits like the free Build My Plate uses or Coach message limits
• Use Coach to create harmful content, or try to make it ignore its safety rules
• Copy, change or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it

Our app and your content

MacroHall, including its design, name, logo and software, belongs to us. We give you a personal, non transferable permission to use the app on your Apple devices for your own use, under these terms and Apple's App Store rules.

Your food log, photos, weight and other things you add stay yours. You give us only the permission we need to store them and run MacroHall for you, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Ending your account

You can stop using MacroHall at any time. To delete your account and everything we hold about you, tap Profile > Delete account. Remember to cancel any Pro subscription in your iPhone Settings too.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Where it makes sense, we will tell you first and explain why. We may also change or stop offering MacroHall, or parts of it. If we stop offering Pro entirely, we will turn off renewals so you are not charged again.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for MacroHall or its content, and has no duty to provide support or maintenance for it. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as a third party beneficiary. Your use of the App Store is also covered by Apple's own terms.

No guarantees

We work hard to make MacroHall useful and reliable, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always work, be free of errors, or that its information will be accurate or complete.

Limits on our responsibility

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unexpected losses, or for harm that comes from relying on menu, nutrition, allergen or Coach information, or from what you choose to eat.

As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim about MacroHall is limited to the greater of what you paid for MacroHall Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 CAD.

Some places, including some Canadian provinces, don't allow some of these limits. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection laws where you live give you the right to bring it somewhere else.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as MacroHall changes. We will update the date at the top, and if a change is significant, we will let you know in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using MacroHall after a change, you accept the new terms.
